Together with their families, Hunter Rovere and Victoria Povolo are excited to announce their wedding! The ceremony will take place on November 7, 2026, at Our Lady of Pompei Roman Catholic Church in Paterson, with a reception to follow at Portobello in Oakland.
The Ceremony
Our Lady of Pompei Roman Catholic Church
161 Caldwell Ave, Paterson, NJ 07501
Our church started in 1916 as a Mission Church of Saint Michael’s in Paterson to serve the needs of the Italian community in the western section of Paterson.
In July 1924, the Capuchin Sisters of the Infant Jesus were established in the parish by Bishop Thomas J. Walsh of Newark. The sisters, whose convent was located on Caldwell Avenue, were engaged in social service work and taught religious instruction to the children of the parish.
Late in the fall of 1962, excavation began at the corner of Caldwell Avenue and Dayton Street for the construction of a new church. It was dedicated on Saturday, August 17, 1963.

From Lacrosse to “I do”
The story of how we got here.

It started at Turf City
We met at Turf City when Victoria went to watch her brother play lacrosse. At one point, the owner asked if anyone wanted to keep score, and Victoria raised her hand. She figured she’d make a little money and come back the next week to do it again. Sure enough, Hunter was sitting in the score box the next week, and we started talking and getting to know each other.
The first date.
Our first date was at Barnes & Noble, where we spent the afternoon picking out books. It was simple, but it gave us plenty of time to talk and get to know each other outside of Turf City. From there, we started working the same shifts and spending more time together, and things naturally grew from there.

Somewhere along the way…
Over the years, we’ve become best friends and built a relationship full of a lot of laughs. In the beginning, a big part of our time together was spent solving murder mysteries during our shifts at Turf City. We’d play the games, trying to figure out who the killer was, and fun fact: we’re still undefeated! We’d watch Mr. Ballen, listen to murder stories, and watch short documentaries together. Those little routines became a big part of our early relationship, and they’re still some of the things that make us laugh when we look back on how it all started.
A cow farm proposal…
In February 2025, Hunter proposed at a cow cuddling farm, which was a pretty perfect choice considering Victoria’s love for cows. He had planned the whole thing, although he was, of course, running late to his own proposal. Somehow, it all worked out, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting way for him to ask. Now we’re looking forward to getting married and celebrating with the people who have been part of our lives and our story along the way.
